Prototyping Lab Technician

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Travel: up to 25%

Compensation

$50-60K base salary

Help us build the future of agriculture. Minimizing the time it takes to go from idea to reality is key to Traptic’s success. As our Prototyping Lab Technician you will work with our engineers to fabricate a wide variety parts using our in-house prototyping machine shop/lab. Ideal candidates are organized, learn fast, and have good attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate custom parts using various processes

    • Welding (Tig, Stick)

    • Machine shop fabrication

    • 3D printing

    • Laser cutting

    • Electronics soldering

    • CNC mill operation

  • Build assemblies ranging from precision custom grippers to large steel structures

  • Integrate vehicle changes in field

  • Provide design feedback to engineering team

  • Conducting in-lab system tests

  • Managing in-house prototyping lab

    • Machine maintenance

    • Shop organization

  • Coordinating with outside vendors

Basic Qualifications

  • Proficiency with one or more of the following processes with a willingness to learn the others:

    • TIG welding

    • Stick welding

    • Machine shop fabrication

    • CAM programing using Fusion 360 or similar

  • Able to interpret engineering drawings

  • High school diploma or GED/CHSPE

  • A valid driver’s license

  • Successful pre-employment screening process including drug screen and background investigation

  • Able to lift 35 lbs unassisted

Field Service Technician / Machine Operator

Location: Salinas/Watsonville or Oxnard, CA

Travel: Up to 50%

$45-55K base salary

Help us drive the future of agriculture. Ensuring our robots pick berries fast and effectively requires a dedicated team working in the field and in the cloud. As a Field Technician / Machine Operator you will work in the field with our robotic harvesting machines and remotely with our engineers to maneuver successful field tests and trials. Ideal candidates learn fast, have good attention to detail, are excellent troubleshooters and are not afraid to get their boots dirty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate tractor in customer’s fields

  • Troubleshoot and maintain electrical custom robotic hardware and tractor

  • Communicate effectively with software and hardware engineers

  • Represent Traptic in a professional manner on customer’s farms

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be self-motivated, responsible, able to work independently and have excellent communication skills

  • Comfortable with basic maintenance of tractor and other custom hardware

  • Interest and ability to develop solutions to unique problems in different environments

  • High school diploma or GED/CHSPE

  • A valid driver’s license

  • Conversational Spanish (preferred)

  • Lift 35 lbs. unassisted

  • Successful pre-employment screening process including drug screen and background investigation
